Join us for our 6th annual Bee Earth Day celebration

where we celebrate and connect children & families to fresh, healthy food and local honeybees!

Come celebrate Earth Day in the budding Children’s Peace Garden, located at 1630 Hawthorn in Boulder at the Growing Gardens organic farm. Admission is free and donations are cheerfully welcomed. We invite you to arrive using alternative transportation & sporting garden costumes, and also ask that you please leave your furry friends at home. We'll have the following activities (most appropriate for children ages 3-10):

  • Seed planting and insect habitat investigation activities
  • Worm compost exploration
  • Local honeybee demonstrations--which includes trying on beekeeper suits and visiting a demonstration hive
  • Obstacle course & prizes
  • Facepainting for purchase by Fun & Fancy
  • Goat petting & milking demonstrations

Mountain Flower Goat Dairy will have their goats at the event and will stage some very lively baby goat races! Long's Gardens will demonstrate how to divide, care for and transplant your irises. The Wheel & Whisk Roadside Cafe and Two Hands Kitchen will be serving up yummy brunch and lunch options for your family and the Kitchen Sink bluegrass band will play from 10-12. We'll also have Bhakti Sparkling Teas available purchase.

Growing Gardens is located on the last remaining piece of agriculturally zoned land in the City of Boulder. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the Cultiva Youth Project, Horticultural Therapy gardens, Community Gardens, our Greenhouse, Children's Peace Garden programs, Community Classes and our Orchard!

We strongly encourage biking and alternative modes of transportation, as the farm is along the bike path, on the bus route and parking space is limited. Please drive slowly through the neighborhood. Reference this map to the event.
